21 DAYS of MANTRA
Sometimes the most difficult times produce the most beautiful medicine.
Recently I stepped into a most profoundly challenging period which took a great toll on me. Morale was low. Something inside me knew that the healing would come if I just opened the way, so I committed to record one mantra per day for 21 days, no matter how I was feeling.
This album is far from perfect or professional and certainly doesn’t parade as such.
It’s an honest and raw sharing of daily mantra for a period of 21 days, most often being recorded in a state of exhaustion.
Each mantra was a response to the day that met it, a balm that soothed or a fire that burned through the chaos. Some were sung alone, with cascading harmonies of my own voice, some were shared together, warmly holding us all. Some were witnessed and some were sung in secret. All are here, as they are.
I am deeply grateful and honoured to have been accompanied most days by Raen Messina and some days by Sage Love. Raen, at the risk of sounding cliché, you have been my anchor and your willingness to hold this space by my side is invaluable. Sage, you constantly push me to let go of the need to be serious and structured and perfect, your contributions bring a lightness and comedy to this project that it surely needed.
I must also thank Semone, Markie and Philipp, Jackson and Sage who sang Sita Ram around the fire with me (and Bene who requested it). There was so much power in that moment as we all let it go.
May you receive some of the healing too.
